The rebate program is mandated for Missouri investor-owned utilities such as Evergy as part of Missouri's Proposition C referendum. Proposition C requires investor-owned utilities in Missouri to provide a specified percentage of energy sold to be derived from renewable resources. It also includes a provision for solar power rebates. The Renewable Energy Standard statute for Kansas does not include provisions for a similar solar rebate component.
