Helping local nonprofits energize our environment and win up to $10,000 for environmental and sustainable initiatives
Congratulations to 2025 Evergy Hometown Grant recipients
These grants will help non-profit agencies across our service area by providing up to $10,000 for community improvement projects.
This year’s theme is Energize Our Environment. Each organization will receive their grant for an environmentally-focused project.
Regional Grant Recipients: The recipients were chosen from seven regions in the Evergy service area. The recipients, regions, and their projects are:
Wonder Workshop Children's Museum
Manhattan, KS
Interactive Renewable Energy Learning Zone
The grant will support solar-powered play centers, wind-harnessing models, kinetic energy stations, and other features to foster environmental leadership among children through outdoor play.
Pittsburg, KS
SunPowered Student Challenge
Funds will support the statewide solar energy competition for Kansas high school students with curriculum materials, solar kits, instructional guides, and event-related costs.
Tarkio, MO
Atchison County Multipurpose Center
The grant will support a sensory garden for older adults living with dementia, encourage local food production, support pollinator-friendly practices, and provide an educational space that highlights the importance of green, healthy environments.
Wichita, KS
Food Rescue Program
Funds will prevent food waste by collecting surplus items from restaurants, caterers, and food producers, and supporting nearly two dozen community partners serving food to insecure residents.
Kansas City, MO
BOON AREA 1
The grant will support a nature-based art installation currently located on a once blighted/vacant lot in a disinvested business zone.
Grandview, MO
Furniture Recyling and Upcyling
The grant will support expanded recycling efforts to save more than 600 tons of waste from local landfills and support families with housing insecurity.

Rossville Community Trail
Supporting phase 2 of a project to build sustainable trails, fostering community and safety, and improving mental and physical health.

Creating a healing garden filled with native plants and musical instruments to offer comfort, creativity, and connection for children at the Noyes Home.
Friends of the Kansas Wildlife Exhibit
Wichita, KS
Riverside Park Pagoda Renovation
Breathing new life into a historic 1911 park building to create an educational space where kids can connect with native wildlife and the natural world.
