Notice of Local Public Hearing

REGARDING EVERGY MISSOURI WEST, INC.’S REQUEST FOR MISSOURI STATE AUTHORITY TO BUILD, OWN, AND OPERATE THREE NEW POWER PLANTS

About the Proposal

Evergy Missouri West, Inc. (“Evergy ”) has filed with the Missouri Public Service Commission (“PSC”) an application for a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) to construct, install, own, operate, manage, maintain, and control portions of three new natural gas power plants (two combined-cycle generating turbine plants located in Kansas and one simple-cycle generating turbine plant in Nodaway County, Missouri).  

About the virtual public hearing

The PSC has scheduled a virtual local public hearing that begins with a question-and-answer session where you may ask questions of Evergy and other parties followed by an on-the-record hearing, where any member of the public may testify, and/or provide documents to the PSC for it to consider in this case.  

To facilitate an orderly hearing, any member of the public who wishes to testify at the local public hearing should register to do so by sending his/her first and last name to pscinfo@psc.mo.gov, or by calling 800-392-4211 by 5 pm CDT no later than the last business day before the hearing. If you have questions about the hearings, you may send them to pscinfo@psc.mo.gov, or call 800-392-4211. 

The Commission will hold the virtual local public hearing via WebEx on April 1, 2025, beginning at 12 pm CDT. The Commission’s Public Policy and Outreach Department shall make an informal presentation and conduct a question-and-answer session for the public at the beginning of the local public hearing. Testimony to the Commission from the public will begin at the conclusion of the question-and-answer session. Evergy, Staff, and the Office of the Public Counsel will have representatives available to address substantive issues during the question-and-answer session.  

Any other party may also choose to have a representative present.

At the time of the hearing, call toll free 855-718-6621. Listen to the prompt and enter the meeting number/access code 2864 938 1901, followed by # (pound/hashtag symbol). If prompted for a password, enter 0075. 

To attend the virtual local public hearing by video/internet:

Visit the website at Webex.com or download the Cisco WebEx Meetings app. At the hearing time, enter the meeting number/access code 2864 938 1901 and password 0075. 

Anyone is welcome to attend the virtual public hearing at the time listed above.

Evidentiary hearing

The PSC has scheduled an evidentiary hearing from May 28 through May 30, 2025, at the Governor Office Building, Room 310, 200 Madison Street, Jefferson City, Missouri, for parties in this case to present their evidence to the PSC for its decision. This hearing is open to the public, except portions the PSC may close to protect the dissemination of nonpublic information.

The evidentiary hearing will be held in a building that meets accessibility standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
